Recycling waste material, which is made up of valuable secondary resources, has a number of commercial and environmental benefits.

With Landfill Tax now over £80 per tonne any material that can be diverted and recycled represents a significant saving. Recycling also helps reduce pressure on the earth’s limited natural resources by providing secondary materials, which can be built in to more sustainable supply chains and help to reduce your business’ carbon footprint. Our cost effective mixed and single stream recycling services make recycling easy and provide great flexibility with the ability to recycle a wide range of materials including: cardboard, paper, glass, metal, wood, plastic, gypsum, hard-core and green waste.

  • Food waste +

Recycling food waste can significantly reduce both your waste management costs and emissions of harmful greenhouse gases produced by landfill sites. It also helps reduce contamination of your other recyclable materials improving the quantity and quality that can be recovered.

Depending on the volume being produced we provide a range of containers for the separate collection of food waste from kitchen caddies through to wheelie bins and compactors.

Once collected your food waste can either be composted or used in a process called Anaerobic Digestion (AD) to create renewable energy. AD uses micro-organisms to breakdown organic material in the absence of oxygen. The result is a methane-rich gas biogas that can be used as a fuel, and digestate, a source of nutrients that can be used as a fertiliser.

Our food waste service will ensure 100% diversion from landfill.

  • Cardboard +

Cardboard and in particular cardboard packaging is one of the highest volume waste streams in the UK. Fortunately it is also one of the most widely recycled. From the day it is collected it can take as little as 14 days to make new cardboard boxes from old.

Recycling cardboard makes sound commercial sense. Separating it out reduces the amount of general waste you produce, which is far more expensive than recycling as it attracts over £80 in Landfill Tax alone. For large amounts of cardboard the costs of collection are reduced and in some instances could even be free of charge or attract a rebate.

Recycling cardboard increases the supply of this valuable secondary resource. This can be used in more sustainable supply chains thereby reducing pressure on the earth’s limited natural resources.

For businesses that produce larger volumes we can collect containers of loose cardboard segregated into a single stream or as baled material. This reduces transport cost and the impact on the environment, and maintains the value of the materials being recycled.

Those with smaller volumes can include it in our mixed recycling service, which keeps costs to a minimum by collecting cardboard with other recyclable materials all in one container.

  • Paper +

From printer paper to direct mail or newsprint we offer a cost effective and sustainable paper recycling service.

Paper recycling reduces amount of general waste generated by your business helping to reduce your waste bill. The more you recycle the more you save, and for large amounts the collections could be free or the materials may even have a value.

With paper production accounting for about 35% of the trees felled globally each year recycling your paper can also have an extremely positive environmental impact.

Our free site assessment will propose a complete waste management solution that covers:

    • How the paper is collected onsite
    • The best types of containers to use
    • Storing the paper ready for collection
    • Transport to the recycling facility

Our range of paper recycling options start with a mixed recycling service suitable for smaller businesses where costs are kept to a minimum by collecting paper and other recyclable materials all in one container.

For businesses that produce larger volumes we can collect containers of loose paper segregated into a single stream, or as baled material. This reduces transport cost and the impact on the environment, and maintains the value of the materials being recycled.

  • Glass +

Glass can be recycled over and over again and doing so makes both environmental and commercial sense.

Every tonne of glass recycled for use in another glass product or as aggregate will save over £80 in Landfill Tax alone. Any material left in the general waste stream can therefore dramatically increase your waste management costs.

There are clear environmental benefits too. The amount of energy needed to melt recycled glass is considerably less than that needed to melt raw materials to make new bottles and jars. Recycling just one bottle can save enough energy to power a television set for one and a half hours.

There are several ways we can collect glass for recycling from your premises so the first step is to contact us for a free site assessment so we can propose the best solution for your business.

    Our proposal will cover:

    • Collecting the glass onsite
    • The best types of containers to use
    • Preparation for collection
    • Transport to the recycling facility

Our range of glass recycling options start with small containers collected weekly for those businesses producing small amounts of glass.

Tins and cans can be collected either separately or as part of a mixed recycling collection, which provides a simple and effective way to comply with UK waste regulations requiring businesses to separate recyclable material (paper, plastic, metal and glass) from other waste.

  • Wood +

At Neales we offer a fully comprehensive wood recycling service.

Wood for recycling is graded from A to D with Grade A having the most uses when recycled. Mixing higher graded woods with lower grades, such as MDF and hardboard, can limit the options for disposing of the wood so it’s important to get good advice.

Some woods are classed as hazardous because they have been treated with preservatives and these need disposing of separately.

We can advise you on the different grades of wood and how best to segregate them to ensure the most cost effective collection and recycling service.

We can also help you decide on the type of container to use to collect your wood, where best to site the container and the frequency of collection.

Recycling wood costs less than putting it in your general waste whilst improving your recycling performance, which can be important for accreditations and audits by potential customers.

  • Plastic +

Recycling plastic and finding a secondary use for the raw materials diverts waste away from landfill reducing your costs and the environmental impact of your waste.

Plastics are non-degradable and can take hundreds of years to break down in landfill sites. With more plastic products and packaging being manufactured the impact on the environment will increase if we don’t recycle and reuse the materials.

At Neales Waste Management we have a range of plastic recycling collection services to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes.

For companies that produce small amounts of plastic, such as plastic bottles and packaging, we supply a small container for the collection of mixed plastic, card, cans, and paper.

Larger operations that produce more plastic can make use of our single stream collections where we place a suitably sized container on site specifically for plastic. We can collect the container on a scheduled service or on demand when you need it emptying which reduces your transport costs.

Some plastic can be baled prior to collection, others can be collected loose as a single type of plastic in a designated container, and for some there may be a free collection or even a financial value. We can also provide onsite staff to collect the material and prepare for transportation saving you time and money.

  • Green Waste +

Green Waste is biodegradable waste such as grass, hedge trimmings, flower cuttings and garden or landscape waste.

Recycling your green waste costs a lot less than sending it to landfill or putting it in with your general waste, and you avoid increases in landfill tax so the savings will increase into the future. It’s also a great way to increase your company’s green credentials and achieve your corporate recycling targets.

We can collect your green waste in small skips or large containers and with the help of our advisors we will select the most cost effective method of collection and transport.

Collections can be on a regular scheduled service, a seasonal arrangement or a one off collection when required. We have many clients that temporarily add the service onto their other waste and recycling services, that’s all part of the flexible complete waste management service that you can expect from Neales Waste Management.
