Hazardous WEEE

Some waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is now classified as hazardous waste due to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013. This covers a whole range of equipment including:

  • Fridges and freezers
  • Asbestos
  • Nickel cadmium batteries
  • Asbestos
  • Washing machines
  • CRT Monitors
  • Water coolers

The reason that these are classified as hazardous WEEE is due to the components and substances contained can be harmful to the environment and public if they are not disposed of correctly. The gasses that are emitted can be seriously harmful to the ozone layer and many contain POPs (persistent organic pollutants) such as plastic or mercury.

How do you recycle hazardous WEEE?

The best way to recycle hazardous WEEE is to simply ask us to collect and sort for you.
